Dr. Morris is also a MO approved Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and can supervise these professionals at agencies and for individuals during their required period of provisional licensure and for post licensure specialization in specific techniques and patient populations for ethical and competent practice.  See the Contacts Section of this web site to explore and make arrangements for supervision.

Our Training Facilities are state of the art Teleconferencing and training facilities with Smart Board conferencing and Telehealth Facilities, access to a library and online and special circumstances on call access and opportunity for Dr. Morris’s students and residents.

Specialized Supervision:  Since Dr. Morris is a Missouri approved supervisor of Provisionally Licensed or Licensable Professional Counselors, Provisionally Licensed Marital and Family Therapists, Post-Doctoral and Predoctoral Provisionally Licensed Psychologists and Specializing Psychologists in several specialties and he has years of experience in the training area and on faculty of educational institutions he specializes in training advanced psychotherapists and diagnosticians.  His training center is well equipped for electronic supervision, tele-cotherapy and session observation, and his training center has a significant electronic and text library and to a library of his publications.

Arranging Training and Licensure and Specialty Supervision:  Dr. Morris is available for consulting staff to institutions and facilities wishing to have training programs and staff recruitment for provisionally licensed and supervised and specializing and professional growth oriented professionals.  He will also arrange individual supervision for selected trainees/residents.  The application process starts with a request for a telecenter interview, next a resume and letter summarizing training and occupational goals, agreement to contact references, and discussion of fees.  At the end of this application/selection process the approved trainees will work out a written training plan and contract agreement and workout agreements with any practices or facilities where their work/training/experiences will take place.  Dr. Morris will assist non-affiliated/unemployed trainees/residents with achieving employment in willing facilities that cooperate and with filing staff privileging documentation, and state provisional licensure forms and attestations of supervision.

Malpractice Insurance:  Trainees/residents will be required to maintain malpractice insurance during the time of supervision.

Payment of Supervision Fees:  Agreed upon and contracted supervision fees must meet the state’s licensure requirements for frequency and type, and they are due at the end of each calendar month. The trainee/resident will be responsible to pay for their malpractice insurance, to maintain their own computer equipment, to purchase an encrypted GoToMeeting monthly subscription, and to maintain supervisable worksite encounter notes and assessment documentation accessible to the supervisor or to arrange to maintain them in the supervisor’s system.  Fees for provisional or full licensure are the responsibility of the trainee/resident.

Ethical and Professional Demeanor:  All trainees/residents will have review and training in their profession’s ethics code, and code of conduct of their organization, and will be responsible for appropriate professional language, dress, and presentation of self during patient and collegial interactions.

Supervisor Contact: Supervisor consultation and contact for difficult situations and needed advice with be available on a 24 your basis.  If the supervisor is in a psychotherapy session, unless it is coded in an emergency email or phone message return contact will be at the end of the supervisor’s session with a patient.

Assignments:  At times the supervisor will assign readings in the scientific literature or in technique literature for review during the supervision hour.  Demonstrations of and discussion of specific techniques demonstrated in encounter note documentation or approved recordings of telehealth sessions are used with patient approval.  In cases where the trainee/resident wishes co-therapy can be arranged.

Training & Supervision Log:  The trainee/resident will be responsible to keep an Excel Spread Sheet Training Log that indicates the:  a. Type of Supervision (individual, group, completed assignment, records review and discussion, etc.), b.  the date and time (in and out) of supervision (usually and hour), c. the type of therapy (e.g., child or adolescent, adult individual, marital or family, substance abuse counseling, assessment, case management, etc., and d. notes that are pertinent (brief).  This low will need to be submitted to the supervisor at the end of each month.

Start and End Date of Supervision Responsibilities:  No trainee/resident may start to log supervision until they have a provisional or full license to practice and filed with their state board for approved supervision and approved. At the end of contracted supervision, the trainee will receive a final evaluation that is written, and appropriate attestation forms will be jointly filled out and submitted to the licensure/certification board that is relevant.  All fees must be paid current before this final step is completed.
